Nagaur : You must have often seen that government employees and people protest in different ways to get their demands accepted. But these days the ongoing sit-in demonstration in Nagaur Jail is getting a lot of headlines. Yes, the reason for this is that those who are jail personnel. Along with duty, he is also staging a sit-in. And with this they are registering their protest by keeping the gas-cylinder and other things upside down.
Both male and female workers participated in the strike.
There are 4 jails in Nagaur district in which about 100 workers are involved in hunger strike and picketing. About 100 personnel of all the four jails of Nagaur are giving duty despite the sit-in demonstration. Women workers have also given up food.
Why the protest is being done
Chief constable Ganesh Dhundwal told that we jail staff live with hardcore and dreaded criminals. Despite this, we are not getting equal rights in salary. There is a lot of difference between the salary of RAC and jail personnel outside. Because we live with these criminals day and night. But we are not being given any kind of facility. We should be given pay scale pay-level-5, allowances and other facilities including hard duty in front of RAC personnel.
Strike will continue till salary is not equal
The movement will continue till the demands of pay discrepancy are not accepted from the year 1998. Among about 150 prisoners, a single guard does unarmed duty, he neither has the facility of bus pass nor canteen. Even the full salary is not being received.
The jail personnel have also closed the mess. Locking it, the prison personnel pasted their demands on the door, while other items including cylinders were kept outside upside down. Along with Nagaur Jail, the personnel of Didwana, Parbatsar, Wamedta City Jail are also on hunger strike and dharna.
