It is believed that centuries ago this temple was known as ‘Kirat Koop’. There are 5 series of this temple, out of which only Shiva temple and Vishnu temple are in proper condition. The rest of the temples have turned into ruins due to lack of maintenance. Although, it is not clear in which dynasty this temple was built, but it is believed that this ancient temple might have been built during Gupta dynasty, Sangam dynasty or Gurjara-Pratihara dynasty.
